Blasphemy
No More Terrorism in the name of Religion

Stop killing people in the name of blasphemy

End killings in the name of blasphemy – end terrorism everywhere

Those who now try to justify reactions and attacks on the French by bringing up colonial-era stories are truly not fit for the civilized world. Two fresh lives are far more valuable than keeping the feelings of a hundred people fresh. Have you ever found a Kashmiri Pandit who, after being exiled under persecution from the valley, rushed at someone with knives and cleavers? If a significant number of people from one village start killing people from another village, can you reassure the second village by saying not everyone in the first village is bad? Everyone will then consider the school of the first village a failure, because it could not provide proper education. You cannot dispel the fear of ordinary people with theories or even with facts.

France has advised its citizens to be cautious in several notable countries. Why can’t people move freely in the world without fear? Who are those who take revenge for political or governmental responsibilities by killing or torturing ordinary people? The sad truth is, countless people around us sit with flattery, twisting it to offer a pinch of criticism and a bucket of praise. Whatever the purpose, if someone is killed, no noble reasoning can justify that killing.

This same France once saved the life of Iran’s revolutionary leader Khomeini by granting him asylum in its country. In effect, it helped bring about the revolution.

Terrorism, in whatever form or for whatever reason, must be eradicated from the world. Every person should live with full rights and individual freedom.

In September, a 21-year-old young man stepped from Tunisia into Italy, and in October from Italy into France. Within three weeks of gaining asylum in France, he slaughtered three of his hosts. An 18-year-old Chechen boy slaughtered his teacher.

Yesterday in Lalmonirhat, a mentally unstable man was first beaten and then burned to death by people. Such rage they have! Human life holds no value for them. Say anything, and they will claim it is an Israeli conspiracy. They consider themselves superior, others inferior. They try to cover everything with a ridiculous conspiracy theory. Civilized people will not believe such nonsense. They will be afraid. Just hearing the name makes them afraid—I have seen this with my own eyes, not far away, right next door in Nepal.

In Bangladesh, there are plenty of people to march and protest against injustice. The other day, forty thousand people came out at a single call. But why do they sit silently in the face of such incidents? Even those who flood Facebook with streams of abuse fall quiet. In truth, they are all covert supporters, secretly endorsing these acts. At the very least, people should come out on the streets to protest so that no one dares to use the sacred words ‘Allahu Akbar’ for terrorism, for killing people, for barbarity and cruelty.

Stop killing people in the name of blasphemy
In Lalmonirhat district of Bangladesh, on October 29, 2020, a mentally disabled man was brutally killed – first beaten and then burned – on allegations of blasphemy.

If those who practice a religion can set good examples, we can bring them forward with praise. But sadly, we do not see anyone giving such examples. We, who are humanists, are deeply hurt whenever even a single person is murdered in Bangladesh, India, Gaza, Palestine, Kashmir, Yemen, Nigeria, France, America, Iraq, Syria, Iran. Regardless of religion, color, gender, country, time, or nation, every life is equally valuable to us.
