Problems only in Islam?

Why is it only Islam that free‑thinkers seem so fixated on, when there are so many religions?

Many moderate and devout clerics often ask this question: if there are so many religions in the world, why do freethinkers seem so obsessed with criticizing Islam?

Other religions also had many brutal practices in the past, and religious authorities once practiced them too. But under the pressure of science and modern civilization, they have revised many things, hidden much of that brutality, and in some cases edited their religions—so people are no longer as concerned about those issues. But you yourselves say that Islam cannot be edited and must continue unchanged until the Day of Judgment.

That is why, compared to Islam, no other religion today is seen as such a major adversary to humanity. Islam’s dominance‑seeking or imperial ambitions are expressed through jihad; no other religion has such fascistic aspirations for a caliphate.

No other religion today controls a person’s private life 24/7 the way Islam does. From bodily functions, movement, sleep, marriage, family life, sexuality, society, to the state—Islam intervenes everywhere and even demands enforcement by force. Islam even concerns itself with whether someone’s pants are above the ankle. If a woman wears a simple bindi on the street, “soldiers of Islam” hurl abuse at her.

Islam also casts a harsh eye on how women dress. If someone wears ordinary clothing, they risk harassment in various ways. Even when someone is a victim of rape, you blame the victim.

Islam does not tolerate criticism or apostasy; it seeks to resolve everything by beheading. At the slightest issue, devout crowds take to the streets shouting “catch, beat, cut, burn”—and they carry it out. Secret killings have been going on for 1400 years.

Even when someone approaches in friendship under the label of Islam, we are forced to view them with suspicion—because of taqiyya. Ordinary people cannot easily tell what is sincere friendship and what is a hidden conspiracy.

Wherever Islam spreads, it destroys local arts and culture and imposes Arab culture and language. Little children’s childhoods are ruined as they are forced to memorize a mythical Arabic book. They endure inhumane abuse, and even sexual abuse is not rare there.

There is no respectful coexistence in Islamic principles. To spread hatred and hostility among people, Allah has revealed 167 verses in the scripture. Even without progress in economy, science, knowledge, or education, they believe themselves to be superior and others to be their servants. If someone does not obey—off with their head!

Those who know Islam inside out—why would they leave it and criticize other religions? There is no rule that one must criticize a specific religion. There are already countless preachers in Bangladesh—and you among them—working to “save” followers of other faiths. If a few of us expose the flaws of Islam, why does it irritate you so much? How many are we, compared to your millions?

Because of you, we cannot return to our homeland. Everyone has the right to criticize religion, ideology, founders, and deities—this fundamental human right does not exist in the Islamic mindset. You threaten to kill us, actually kill, and continue attempts—then claim it as a great victory for Islam.

You yourselves say Islam is the only true religion and all others are false. Then why waste time discussing false religions? If the “true” one is exposed, that should be enough!

Freethinkers criticize the ignorance, brutality, and inhumanity of all religions. People speak more about what they know best. How many people do you know who criticize Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, or the other 4500 religions in the world? That number is large—you just don’t know it due to ignorance. But there is no way to sugarcoat Islam.
