Hypocrisy in Islam under the guise of taqiyya
The culture of deception (taqiyya‑like practices) and the cultivation of hatred toward others among religiously fanatic Muslims in Bangladesh
The extent to which Islam as a religion and its carriers spread hatred, fear, deception, and hypocrisy became evident during the COVID pandemic in Bangladesh. I posted this photo and the status below on April 10, 2020. Those posts from that time still flash before my eyes, and I wonder how much more civilized, peaceful, and humane society, nation, and world could have been if this religion called Islam did not exist. I remember when COVID deaths in India began rising alarmingly and cremation grounds ran out of space—many so-called pious believers in Bangladesh openly celebrated, claiming Allah’s army Corona was punishing India. What an inhuman, grotesque, and brutal mindset these people have! For showing sympathy toward Indian people, I was abused, threatened with physical violence, and the so-called soldiers of Islam hurled filthy insults at my religious mother and sisters.
At the beginning of COVID, clerics began preaching that there is no such thing as contagious disease, that Islam says so, that if Muslims got corona then the Quran would be proven false, that corona was Allah’s army sent to suppress non-believers, and that vaccines must not be taken. Mufti Ibrahim even announced a Quranic formula for protection from corona that he had received in a dream. Ironically, the first person in the country to die of COVID turned out to be a prominent religious scholar. Islamists’ favorite show-off writer Dr. Shamsul Arefin Shokti fled the hospital and could not be brought back despite repeated notices. A great preacher of Quranic verses—who claimed there is no contagious disease in Islam—flatly declared that he would not return to the hospital even if he lost his job. Many such incidents occurred. Forget serving people of other faiths—Muslim brothers could not even recognize or help their own ummah. However, there were a few rays of hope—some angels who risked their own lives to help people. They had no religion before their eyes, no incentives, no rewards. As human beings, simply out of love for humanity, they showed this noble compassion.
A few years, especially 2020 and 2021, will remain witnesses in world history. The balloon of religion deflated during those terrifying days. The world learned how essential science, technology, education, research, and collective cooperation are for human survival. Sadly, humanity learned nothing from such a massive pandemic.

Even on the battlefield, the dead are treated with dignity. Yet in this country that claims to be 90% Muslim, not only was burial denied, even a stretcher was refused for carrying a corpse. This incident occurred in Dowarabazar Upazila of Sunamganj. Three brothers went together to request a stretcher from a place of worship to carry their deceased brother’s body. The religious brothers refused because they suspected the man had died of коронавирус. Eventually, the three brothers themselves carried the body on their shoulders to the graveyard. With police assistance, they finally buried their brother. The same 90% again claim there is no contagious disease, that places of worship are God’s home where disease cannot exist, and that they are the bearers of peace. Lies are very difficult to hide. Some will say these are not the real 90%—I have searched endlessly listening to this nonsense, yet cannot find who the real 90% are. We were raised with this propaganda that Bangladesh’s family bonds, social cohesion, and human values are superior to Europe and America. Now I see we are part of an inhuman, brutal, thief-filled, ignorant society. People in secular countries are far more humane and social—there is no shortage of volunteers willing to help others.
There is no such thing as contagious disease in Islam. Many clerics have confirmed this—Mufti Ibrahim, Mufti Razzak, Mufti Razzak’s son, Mufti Hamza, Shaykh Ahmadullah, and many others. Still, for those who will twist logic, I am providing authentic hadith references:
