Dishonest people are the enemies of the world

It is because of bad people that the world becomes difficult for good people

In foreign countries, large shopping centers and online markets everywhere have return policies of one month, two months, even three months, where customers can return items with “no questions asked” and get their money back, including shipping costs. The sad part is – many people horribly misuse this opportunity. For example, many buy Christmas trees before Christmas, then after the holiday they return them. Some buy jackets and shoes before going on winter vacations, items they won’t need otherwise, and after returning from vacation they return those too. You think only Bengalis do this? Some Bengalis do, yes, but many other communities do it as well.

In most cases, the laws of those countries are such that “the customer is always right.” When I used to sell my creative software online, I lived in fear of a terrible monster called chargeback. Someone would buy and start using it, then claim that their card had been used without their knowledge, or that they had purchased it by mistake. In most cases these were deliberate. When a chargeback happened, not only did I have to refund the money, but the payment processor would also impose a hefty fine.

Yet businesses still make full profit even after so many refunds. With every product’s price, they calculate in advance the possibility of fraudulent refunds, genuine refunds, damages – all of it – and set the price 20–30% higher. Along with that, they calculate their costs and profit. Ultimately, the money comes out of your pocket and mine. Because of these frauds, you and I have to work extra every day.

This world is filled with hundreds of thousands of dishonest people, millions of fraudsters, crooks, corrupt individuals, and terrorists – and because of them, ordinary hardworking honest people like us have to bear extra burdens. Our labor increases. Because these fraudulent people, the great corrupt ones and terrorists across countries, their expenses usually come from our pockets. We have to maintain so many police forces, buy weapons, bombs, and war equipment with our money – because there are bad people in the world. Even when they are put in jail, it is our money that pays for their food, clothing, and even their comfort.

If all the people in the world were good, human life would be much longer, people wouldn’t have to work themselves to the bone. They would have enough time for themselves, for their families, for rest. Mental and physical stress, worries, would be greatly reduced. It is only because bad people exist that the world becomes so hard. Some people are bad, criminal, dishonest – and their misdeeds must be atoned for by others, those who are honest, brave, good, and hardworking.
