Women, The Light
Women: The Foundation of Civilization and Human Rights
March 8 is International Women’s Day. But the truth is – needing a specific day to show respect to women is itself a symbol of our social failure. Learning to respect women not only on Women’s Day, but every day, every moment, as human beings is the first condition of humanity.
🌿 1. History Says – Women Are the Original Architects of Civilization
In the earliest stages of human civilization, women were the heads of families. Male dominance – which we now consider “normal” – is only a few thousand years old. But women were at the center of human survival, food gathering, reproduction, and the formation of social structures.
In other words, the foundation of civilization stands on the shoulders of women. This is not emotion – this is an established truth in anthropology, sociology, and evolutionary science.
🧠 2. Evolutionary Psychology: Why Women Excel at Multitasking
When we try to do several tasks at once, our minds get confused. Researchers call this “interference.” But this interference affects women far less than men – something proven in many studies. To understand why, we must look back to the hunter-gatherer era –
Men’s role:
- Hunting
- Long periods of focus on a single task
- Linear tasks
- Loss of focus could mean death
Women’s role:
- Protecting children
- Gathering food
- Managing fire, shelter, safety
- Responding to sudden danger
- Handling multiple tasks at once
Natural selection therefore shaped women with multi-directional attention, quick responses, and multitasking ability. This ability remains a strength of women even today.
🎭 3. Literature and Society: Nora – A Symbol of Women’s Self-Respect
Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House shows us through Nora that women are often seen not as beings of love or rights, but as objects of necessity. Society frightens her, reminds her of her duties, but no one speaks of her duty to herself.
When Nora says –
“I have a sacred duty to myself as well”
– she becomes the voice of all women in the world.
🧩 4. The Biggest Barrier for Women – Seeing Themselves Only as “Women”
Our society shapes women in such a way that they limit themselves. The day women learn to see themselves not just as “women,” but as complete human beings – that day true liberation will begin.Society teaches women:
You are weakYou are dependentYou are second-classYou are “a woman,” therefore you have limitsThis mindset must be broken.
⚖️ 5. Biological Reality and Human Responsibility
Yes, due to some biological reasons, women need certain physical and mental support. But these very women sustain the human species. For the sake of humanity itself, women must be given more opportunities, safety, healthcare, and equal rights. This is not charity – it is justice.
🧨 6. Another Obstacle to Women’s Progress – The Culture of Ornamentation
Some women sacrifice everything to climb upward using personal relationships instead of merit. Greedy men use them, and qualified men and women are deprived. This culture is extremely harmful to women’s development. No society can progress without valuing merit, skill, and hard work.
🎬 7. Society’s Mindset – The Root of How Women Are Viewed
Rituparno Ghosh’s film Dahan reveals how society views, judges, and blames women. Violence, humiliation, and blame against women are deeply rooted in societal mentality.
🛍️ 8. The Commercialization of Women’s Day – Another Problem
Corporations have turned Women’s Day into a commercial festival. Fashion houses, brands, advertisements – everyone sees it as a chance to sell products. But without a change in mindset, women’s liberation is impossible.
🌅 9. Respect Women – Today, Tomorrow, Every Day
We will need Women’s Day only as long as we fail to respect women as human beings every day.
Women are not just mothers, sisters, wives, or daughters –
women are human beings.
This is the first truth, and the last truth.
Women’s rights mean:Equal opportunityEqual dignitySafetyFreedomThe right to make their own decisionsControl over their own bodies.
Women do not need love –
They deserve respect, rights, and justice.
