Muhammad's Character!
Even after having 9–11 wives and 4+ concubines, Prophet Muhammad sexually abused young girls
When Prophet Muhammad was around 60 years old, even though he had 9–11 wives including his beloved child‑bride Aisha, and 4 or more concubines, he was still particularly attracted to other young girls. Even seeing a girl crawling or in her mother’s arms, he expressed desire to marry her once she grew up. Defenders of Islam dismiss this hadith as weak. However, in two other authentic hadiths, it is stated that the Prophet engaged in sexual harassments with two young girls. Let me clarify: Islamic apologists try to frame these as marriage or marriage proposals. But considering Muhammad’s sexual life, his habits, and the social environment of Arabia at that time, you can understand what is implied.
Here are the names of the two girls: Jawniyya and Umaimah. First, look at the two hadiths.
Hadith related to the incident of Jawniyya
Hadith related to the incident of Umaimah
Islamic defenders try to use the hadith titles to imply marriage or divorce, but the actual hadith texts contain no mention of marriage or divorce. And nothing in the narrative suggests that.
The scenario we see is this: In Arabia at that time, wealthy people had private resorts or garden houses or pleasure houses in the oases, whose main purpose was secluded sexual activity. Once, Prophet Muhammad went to such a private resort with his companions. There, a noble young girl or adolescent named Jawniyya was dressed up and brought before him. The fact that she was a child is indicated by the presence of her nurse or caretaker — wealthy Arab families typically sent young girls with a female attendant. Jawniyya likely did not know why she was brought there, and she probably had no consent.
When Prophet Muhammad told Jawniyya to remove her clothes and go to the bed (in Islamic polite language, he told her to “present herself” to him), Jawniyya replied that she was a princess and could not present herself to a “bazari” man. In Arabia, “bazari” referred to immoral, lustful, or indecent men — this is confirmed in multiple hadiths. The Prophet, trembling with excitement, placed his hand on her body and told her to calm down. Jawniyya was intelligent — she immediately said that the Prophet should release her “for the sake of Allah.” It is clear she insulted him as much as she could. The Prophet became disappointed and let her go.
After returning disappointed from that trip, the Prophet went again to the same pleasure house. This time another young girl, Umaimah, was brought before him. But she too rejected the old Prophet and insulted him. Islamic defenders try to claim these two girls were the same person to protect Islam’s honor. But Sahih Bukhari 5256, 5257, and 5255 clearly show two different names, two different individuals, two different times. Other sources also confirm this: one was Jawniyya, daughter of Jawn; the other was Umaimah, daughter of Nu’man ibn Shahril.
The foolish companions knew that the Prophet would not calm down unless he fulfilled his sexual desire. After being rejected twice, the Prophet was in a state of intense arousal. Then one companion described the beauty of his own sister and offered to bring her to the Prophet. The Prophet agreed. The companion Ash’ath brought his sister Qatila to the Prophet. The Prophet fulfilled his desire with someone at that resort in this way. Think about what kind of men the Prophet’s companions were — imagine how they viewed their own sisters and women! You will find this narration in Al‑Bidaya wa’n‑Nihaya, volume 5, pages 487 and 489. There are many other sources.
Islamists claim this man was the greatest of all time, the ideal for every era. His words and actions are supposedly the words and actions of Allah! There is no room to excuse these as “customs of that era.” If Islamists try to excuse them, then they must also accept that Muhammad, the Qur’an, the Hadith, and Allah are outdated and unacceptable in this era.
