Vitiligo
Where is Allah’s Power?

Does Allah Know Everything?

Due to superstition and ignorance, Prophet Muhammad divorced his bride on the wedding night

When the Prophet Muhammad married Aliyah, Muhammad was over sixty years old, near the end of his life. After eating the poisoned food given by the Jewish woman of Khaybar, he suffered severe pain from poisoning. Even at that time, his desire for marriage had not faded. On the wedding night he was eager to consummate the marriage. But unfortunately, due to the superstitions and lack of medical knowledge of Allah and Muhammad, the Prophet Muhammad could not complete the consummation that night.

In Al‑Bidaya wa’n‑Nihaya, Bulugh al‑Maram, and some other sources, this incident is mentioned: after marrying a woman named Aliyah, when the Prophet entered the bridal chamber and began removing her clothing in excitement, he suddenly noticed signs of vitiligo on her body.

The narration is described as follows: When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) approached her and removed her garment, he saw white patches (vitiligo) on her body. He then withdrew without consummating the marriage and said, “Put on your clothes and return to your family.” However, he paid her the full amount of the dowry.

Fourteen hundred years ago, neither Allah nor the Prophet Muhammad knew that vitiligo is not a contagious disease and poses no harm or danger to anyone. Vitiligo cannot spread through physical or sexual contact. Since vitiligo is not caused by any pathogen (virus, bacteria, or fungus), and is entirely a non‑contagious autoimmune condition, it cannot be transmitted through semen, saliva, blood, or close skin contact. This is fully proven by medical science.

Vitiligo occurs when the immune system mistakenly destroys the skin’s pigment‑producing cells (melanocytes), causing specific areas of the skin to turn white. It is entirely internal and may occur due to genetic or environmental factors.

At that time — and even now — many misconceptions and superstitions exist in society about vitiligo. But it is surprising that Allah did not know this. In reality, whatever the Prophet Muhammad did not know, Allah also did not know. A “fake ID,” so to speak! Because the Qur’an says Allah made Muhammad say or do only what He wanted him to say or do. Muhammad’s words are Allah’s words, Muhammad’s actions are Allah’s actions. Yet Allah and Muhammad said there is no such thing as contagious disease — but Muhammad himself avoided consummation with his new bride out of fear of infection! What irony.
