Are these scoundrels merely pretending to be pious Muslims, or do they become scoundrels because of Islam?

This gentleman’s name is Harun Yahya, a very prominent Islamic scholar.
He has several other names — Adnan Oktar / Adnan Hoca / Harun Yahya.

He used to be (and perhaps still is) the Zakir Naik of the wealthy Islamist circles. It is said that Zakir Naik and he are equally influential. Whenever anything happens, many people immediately cite: Harun Yahya said this, Harun Yahya wrote that. Among the relatively less educated, Zakir Naik is the final authority; among the slightly more educated, Harun Yahya is the all‑knowing figure whose arguments are treated as the ultimate truth.

For the past two decades, Islamists have been trying to portray Islam and the Qur’an as scientific, offering various arguments or pseudo‑arguments. Many of those ideas originated in this gentleman’s head. He has written an enormous number of books — more than 150–170 — mostly on Islam, the Qur’an, creationism, anti‑Darwinism, politics, and history. He has even written books for children.

Writers in Bengali who promote so‑called “Islamic science”—nonsense comparable to horse manure—such as Paradoxical Sajid author Arif Azad, or the famous Illuminati researcher Mufti Ibrahim, and many others, are deeply inspired by Harun Yahya. You could say that in this age of immense scientific and technological advancement, the “believing brothers” who need material to twist and stretch arguments get almost all of it from this man. Nearly every book in Bengali that claims to give “crushing replies” to atheists is patched together from Harun Yahya’s writings. One could say he is one of the modern prophets of Bengali‑speaking Muslim believers—many may not know his name, but they certainly know the Arif Azad‑type writers who copy from him. His writings are the primary weapon of the Islamic palm‑tree‑logic brigade.

Since he is an Islamic scholar, devoted to Islam, and determined to establish Islam as the most scientific and humane system in the world—naturally he would also have an “interest” in children, wouldn’t he? You understand what kind of “interest” I mean. The same kind that drives many “soldiers of Islam and the Qur’an” in almost every Qawmi madrasa in Bangladesh.

But Turkey is a secular country, so they would not tolerate this unstoppable “interest” of his toward children. Since 2022, he has been imprisoned, and he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Adnan Oktar (Harun Yahya) was arrested in 2018. The charges against him included sexual assault, sexual abuse of minors, fraud, extortion, attempts at political and military espionage, and more.

At first, a court sentenced him to 1,075 years in prison. Later, the higher court felt that the punishment was not sufficient for his crimes, overturned it, and ordered a retrial. In November 2022, Istanbul’s High Criminal Court sentenced him to 8,658 years in prison. Thirteen of his associates received the same sentence. In Turkey, such sentences are counted consecutively, meaning he will never be released — in the court’s words, it is “harsher than life imprisonment.”

Allah has said: Hide the sins of your Muslim brothers and you will receive great rewards. And then there is taqiyya. That is why you will see that our believing brothers loudly compare others to Jeffrey Epstein, but never mention these Islamic Epsteins. This is taqiyya; this is hypocrisy in the name of Islam. Imagine how enormous a person’s crimes must be to receive 8,658 years in prison! Yet his arguments, philosophy, and rhetoric are still being used by our Muslim scholars to earn their living. Nearly every pseudo‑scientific argument used to portray Islam and the Qur’an as scientific, every trick used to keep Muslims away from learning about evolution — a well‑established scientific fact — comes from this many‑named man.

These people promise houris, palaces, horses, and gardens in the afterlife, yet they indulge in all of it in this world. My personal belief is that they know Islam’s fraud‑forgery‑fabrication‑deception‑theft‑trickery even better than anyone else. But to secure their luxurious lives by selling illusions to hundreds of millions of people, they treat Islam as a psychological mind‑controlling game. Many influential politicians, YouTubers, writers, and even Islamic preachers in the Bengali‑speaking world fall into this category. Even without naming names, most people will immediately recognize one particularly influential YouTuber.
