A terrifying land for queer people
Islamic society of Bangladesh: where the legitimacy of killing queer people is manufactured!
Sometimes many pieces of news appear before our eyes that are truly heartbreaking. In Bangladesh, these girls are extremely helpless; they are abused in various ways and pushed toward being killed, or society itself drives them to suicide. Look at the helpless faces of these two teenage girls! The cameras rush to show their faces—it boosts their views. I am also sorry to have to share this video, but since it has already gone viral, what’s the point of hiding it now?
Homosexuality is considered a serious crime in Bangladesh. Under strict state laws and the threat of harsh religious punishment, the personal lives of these people are turned into a living hell. Not only Islamic speakers, but also influential and cunning politicians like Sergeant Alam believe that homosexuality is not a biological matter but a result of human depravity. I recently saw a photocard of this so-called educated fraud from Dhaka University in the news. Tell me this—those of us who are heterosexual, who are attracted to the opposite sex, or those who are sapiosexual and attracted to intelligence and creativity, would we ever agree to have sex with someone of the same gender, even for millions of dollars? Is that even possible? The thought itself is repulsive. To homosexual individuals, the idea of being with the opposite sex feels exactly the same! It is one of nature’s variations. Due to mutations and genetic changes during fetal development, these people are born this way. They have no control over it, and these traits are often visible from childhood, even if society fails to recognize them.
Scientific evidence suggests that being homosexual is not a matter of choice; rather, it is a complex, natural, and enduring trait influenced by a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. It is not caused by a single “gay gene,” but is widely understood as an inherent aspect of human sexuality, which in some cases may also show slight fluidity over time. Modern science in most developed countries has been recognizing this reality for nearly a century.
1991 – Brain structure (Simon LeVay): Neuroscientist Simon LeVay published a significant study showing that a specific part of the hypothalamus (the INAH3 region) was smaller in homosexual men than in heterosexual men. This was one of the first major pieces of evidence indicating biological differences in the brain related to sexual orientation.
In the early 2000s, major health organizations such as the American Psychological Association officially recognized that sexual orientation is not a choice, and there is no evidence that any therapy can change it.
Along with developed countries around the world, India’s Supreme Court also decriminalized homosexuality in 2018 by striking down Section 377. Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka have also taken positive steps regarding LGBTQ+ rights. However, Bangladesh has yet to follow that path. While LGBTQ+ individuals in other countries in the region are gaining legal protection, social recognition, and access to healthcare, in Bangladesh they are forced to live as “invisible” citizens. If someone’s identity is revealed, they are socially ostracized, and their life is put at risk.
Homosexuality is not limited to humans; it exists throughout nature among various animal species. It is not abnormal, but rather a natural diversity. As intelligent beings, humans should learn to accept this diversity. Insulting, abusing, or discriminating against homosexual individuals is against humanity. In civilized societies, there is no debate over homosexuality because it is understood as part of nature. But in backward, religiously extremist societies like Bangladesh, homosexuality is still mocked and criticized. Who loves whom and who shares intimacy with whom is a personal matter—others have no right to interfere. This basic common sense of civilization is still lacking. Since all life originates from a common source through evolution, same-sex behavior is observed in many animal species as well. For example (there are many more beyond this list):

To deny homosexuality is to deny nature. The recognition of homosexuality by India’s Supreme Court is, in fact, a recognition of humanity, science, and reality. Civilized societies ensure the rights of homosexual individuals, while uncivilized ones mock them. We should accept the truth in light of science and show respect to homosexual individuals. They are part of our society and deserve equal rights to live freely.
For those who argue that homosexuality will hinder human reproduction, it should be noted that the number of childless heterosexual couples is far greater than that of homosexual individuals. There are millions of vulnerable children in the world waiting for care, love, and support from others.
