Qur’an and Muhammad
Prophet Muhammad could produce Qur’anic verses whenever he wished!
Muhammad once instantly brought a Qur’anic verse because one of his followers wanted to marry Aisha.
The last part of Qur’an 33:53 is as follows:
“…And it is never lawful for you to marry his (the Messenger’s) wives after his death. Indeed, this is a grave matter with Allah.”
According to Asbab al‑Nuzul (the reasons for revelation), when Muhammad married Zaynab, the wife of his adopted son, he invited people to the walima or wedding feast. After eating, people sat and kept talking. At that time, one of Muhammad’s followers repeatedly said, “If the Messenger of Allah dies, I will marry Aisha.”
Muhammad did not like this comment, and immediately this verse was revealed, stating that after his death it would never be lawful for anyone to marry his wives. The verse was downloaded right on the spot!
Muhammad did not want anyone to marry his 11 wives after his death. Religious leaders bring countless excuses to justify marrying widows — ahliyah, masna, sulasa, rubayah, so many names! But they have nothing to say about the fact that Aisha lost her elderly husband before she even reached adulthood and spent her entire youth and old age alone! Isn’t that inhumane?
……………
You can verify this historical context from various established Islamic sources, such as:
Al‑Wahidi (Asbab al‑Nuzul): In the explanation of Surah al‑Ahzab (33:53), Imam al‑Wahidi mentions that Talha ibn Ubaydullah (RA) or some other person made such a comment that after the Prophet’s death they wanted to marry Aisha (RA). It was in this context that the verse was revealed.
