Deception in Islam
Islamic deception – the believer disguised as a close friend may actually be on a mission to kill you!
For the sake of Islam and establishing its supremacy, yesterday morning could have become a living nightmare for 174 passengers, crew, pilot, and all their families. All passengers burning to ashes was almost inevitable. As usual, Indian pilot Captain Smit Machhar took off FlyDubai flight FZ 1073 on the morning of 30 September 2026 with his long‑trusted Omani co‑pilot and 174 passengers. Most of the passengers were Israeli citizens – they had departed from Dubai International Airport toward Tel Aviv. But mid‑air, during the flight, the Omani co‑pilot, driven by his extremist Islamist militant ideology, suddenly attacked Indian Captain Smit Machhar with a sharp weapon to take revenge on Israelis and Indians, and attempted to crash the aircraft. However, even while severely injured and bleeding, Captain Smit Machhar showed immense bravery and opened the cockpit door, allowing cabin crew and passengers to rush in and overpower the assailant. The aircraft ultimately made a miraculous emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, saving all passengers’ lives. Who knew what was in the mind of this Islamic co‑pilot disguised in politeness? This could have become news that shocked the entire world at the cost of so many innocent lives. Would Muslims secretly feel happy or condemn it – what do you think?
You and I could be burned to ashes at any moment, our necks could be taken, and the shocking part is that the person doing it might be someone we considered very close, someone we never knew was a dangerous Islamic militant disguised in politeness. There is a saying – Islamic militants want to kill you, and religiously blinded moderate Muslims want militants to kill you.
For the spread of Islam, lying, deception, hiding oneself, and concealing one’s beliefs are permitted in Islam. There are many examples of this in the Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira. Allah Himself has shown examples of deceiving opponents under the name of strategy, and Prophet Muhammad encouraged taking the shelter of such deception. Extremists use this concept for political work to establish Islam. In that mission, they do not care about ethics; their goal is whatever kills or destroys the enemy to establish Islam. And since they are suicidal and believe that dying makes them martyrs and grants them unquestioned entry into the most desirable paradise for Muslims, they never retreat out of fear; they willingly give their lives.
Let it be said, more than 1.8 billion Muslims are mostly peace‑loving and are the biggest victims of militancy. They generally do not follow Islam’s strict instructions or respect state and international law more than those instructions. But this does not mean Islam as an ideology can be exempted from responsibility for terrorism. And many of them also support Islamic militancy.
Islam strictly prohibits friendship with non‑Muslims, helping them, or wishing them well (Qur’an 3:28, 3:118, 4:144, 5:51, 9:23, 9:24, 9:113, 9:114; Hadith – hadithbd.com/hadith/link/?id=60155). But in Islam, taqiyya is such a thing that opportunistic Muslim fundamentalist militants pretend friendship with non‑Muslims, attract them, and then destroy them under the guise of that deceptive friendship. They first plan their strategy, then infiltrate among them disguised as polite people, and at the right time achieve their real objective. Many Islamic fundamentalists consider trapping a person of another religion in love, marrying them, and converting them also part of taqiyya.
The Qur’an clearly shows examples of Allah’s deception. Surah Al‑Imran 3:54 says: “And the disbelievers planned, and Allah also planned. And Allah is the best of planners.” In another translation of the same verse, “Allah is the best deceiver.” Surah Al‑Anfal 8:30 says: “And when the disbelievers plotted to imprison you or kill you… they deceived, and Allah also deceived. Indeed, Allah’s deception is the best.” These verses show that Allah Himself used deception, and it is permitted for the sake of Islam.
Allah also instructs taking hidden positions to kill people of other religions. Surah At‑Tawbah 9:5 – “When the sacred months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them, capture them, besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every ambush. But if they repent, establish prayer, and give zakat, then let them go their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” Islamic scholars explain this verse by saying – it is permissible to kill disbelievers secretly without warning them beforehand. Meaning, before killing, there is no need to say anything like: if you do not do this, you will be killed.
There are examples from the time of Prophet Muhammad. A secret assassination team was sent to kill two Jewish poets, and the Prophet permitted lying or deception. Sahih Bukhari (sunnah.com/bukhari:6622) says: “By Allah, if I take an oath and later find something better, I do what is better and do not consider it necessary to keep the earlier oath.” Abu Bakr’s example is also given where an oath was broken for a better action and expiation was given. Another hadith says, “War is deception” (sunnah.com/bukhari/56/234‑238). There are many more hadiths where lying, breaking oaths, and using deception for benefit are mentioned. Sira books contain many such examples.
When small children are abused in many madrasas, you will see most clerics do not speak about it. Because Muslims are instructed in Qur’an and Hadith to cover up Muslims’ faults. They are also prohibited from mentioning things about Islam that non‑Muslims may find unpleasant. Once someone enters Islam, they are forced to accept these things, because leaving Islam makes one an apostate, whose punishment is death. Therefore, if someone can be made Muslim once through good behavior, showing Islam’s good sides, deception, and trickery, then that is enough; later there is no way out. The hadith about covering Muslims’ faults (sunnah.com/bukhari:2442) is interpreted as hiding Islam’s weaknesses from non‑Muslims.
Surah Al‑Baqarah 2:225 permits breaking oaths if something better is found. These references show that taqiyya in Islam is not only for self‑protection but also for spreading Islam, destroying enemies, and maintaining secret positions. Extremist Islamists use this technique. They appear polite and friendly but sit inside with plans of killing. In politics and society, they secretly achieve interests in the name of Islam – where lying, deception, and pretending are all permissible.
Even though friendship with non‑Muslims is prohibited, for the sake of Islam, Muslims may temporarily befriend them and even follow their customs. That is why you will see that in countries where Muslims are a minority, many Muslim leaders demand secularism, but when Islam becomes the majority, the picture changes completely and they demand Sharia law. In the explanation of Surah An‑Nahl 16:106, scholars clearly mention blending with people of other religions or ethnicities by becoming like them, even if it involves acts resembling disbelief. For example, in India, if necessary, Muslims may perform Hindu worship if it serves Islam’s interest.
Worldwide, this is why many people are checked separately at airports, public places, offices, courts. Background checks are done multiple times during hiring. For whom this is done more – no need to mention. Some call these processes phobia, but the reality of the world cannot be denied.
